World’s largest Indian tricolour unveiled in Khadi to mark Gandhi Jayanthi

The largest hand woven Indian national flag was unveiled in Leh to mark Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 by R K Mathur, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh.  According to<em> ANI</em>, the flag is made entirely with Khadi. The size of the flag is 225×150 ft and it weighs one tonne.</p>

It took 1.5 months to make the national flag, DN Bhatt from Khadi Dyers and Printers, Mumbai told the Indian Express.</p>

“We had to hire additional artists to create the flag. It is extremely heavy. The military came and transported it,” Bhatt said.</p>

<p>
The unveiling of the flag coincided with the birth anniversary of the 'Father of the Nation,' Mahatma Gandhi, with whom Khadi is synonymous.</p>
