The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are finally all set to deploy women commandos for the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Gandhi family.
Amit Shah, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Manmohan Singh are all in Z-plus protection category of CRPF. An official of the force informed the media that 32 female combatants who form the first batch of women commandos have completed their VIP security training. They will be ready for deployment by January 15. The official said: “We have decided to detail them with our Z plus protectees.”
Given the small size of the contingent, initially the women commandos will be given duty at the residence of those protected under the category. The small size will also restrict the number of commandos to only five to six for each protectee.
The officer added: “It will be difficult to deploy them for proximate security when there is movement given the small size of the contingent at this time. However, if required they can be attached to the women protectees during election rallies.”
Elections are scheduled in five States, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa, in early 2022. With more women joining CRPF’s VIP security wing, they will be given proximate security duties.
