Winter chill descends on Delhi

Delhi recorded its coldest morning of the season today with a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius as the winter chill set in. The temperature has fallen to three degrees below normal, according to India Meteorological Department.

IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky throughout the day while the maximum temperature is expected to settle at 26 degrees Celsius.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital at 8 am was estimated at 286 which is rated in the poor category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. The relative humidity was 83 per cent.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor”, and 401 and 500 “severe”.
