India Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall over southern states, including Kerala and Tamil Nadu, during the next few days but the northern states are expected to go through an intense heatwave.</p>

IMD has also forecast fairly widespread rainfall over Assam and Meghalaya and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days and over Arunachal Pradesh between June 7 and 9.</p>

The IMD, in its weather bulletin, said that Rajasthan, south Punjab, south Haryana-Delhi, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Telangana will witness heatwave conditions on Monday while south Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and interior Odisha will also witness similar weather conditions till June 7.</p>

Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal will witness isolated or scattered rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning with gusty winds during the next four to five days.</p>
<p>
Meanwhile, the Southwest monsoon is likely to arrive in Mumbai by June 10. The monsoon is likely to arrive a week earlier in Maharashtra.</p>
