Addressing a gathering on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day celebrations at Rewa Madhya Pradesh took swipe at Opposition for ignoring the development of Chhindwara
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi who is on a visit to Madhya Pradesh, participated in the National Panchayati Raj Day celebrations in the State. The event was held at Rewa district where both the Governor Mangubhai Patel and the State Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan were present.
Taking a swipe at the Opposition parties, PM wondered as to why those whom people of Chhindwara trusted for so long were never serious about their development. He said: “The party that ran the Government the most after Independence, broke the trust of those villages…”
The PM also stressed on the importance that his party and Government gave to the panchayats. He said the budget on panchayats which was earlier Rs.70,000 crores was increased to Rs.2 lakh crores after 2014.
The PM also attended an exhibition that showcased the development of various departments at the main venue. He took a walkthrough the exhibition along with the CM.
PM flagged-off three trains. These are Rewa-Itwari via Chhindwara, Chhindwara-Nainpur and Nainpur-Chhindwara. He will also lay the foundation of the redevelopment of Gwalior station.
