China's 'wolf warrior' diplomats, no matter how much they continue to dent their country's image globally, have gone absolutely berserk in the last 36 hours. And so has its state-controlled, paranoid mainstream media.
"We once again ask the Indian side to act on our consensus, strictly discipline its front-line troops not to cross the line, not make provocations and not to take unilateral actions that might complicate the situation," Zhao Lijian, the Foreign Ministry spokesman, told reporters in Beijing today.
"The incident was very clear, as it happened on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the responsibility did not rest with China," he added.
The local newspapers, channels and news agencies, meanwhile, gave little or no coverage at all to the worst clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the last half a decade in the Galwan valley Monday night which resulted in 20 casualties on the Indian side.
State broadcaster CCTV made no mention of the border confrontation and newspapers like Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-owned People's Daily just published their military's statement on the stand-off, that too on the social media accounts and not in print.
A mouthpiece of the CCP, The Global Times, instead quoted Senior Colonel Zhang Shuili, spokesperson of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), Western Theater Command, saying, "China has always maintained sovereignty over the Galwan Valley region, and the words of Indian border defence troops are inconsistent and seriously violate the agreements both countries have reached, seriously infringe upon the consensus made in the army commander-level talks and seriously harm the relations of the two militaries and the sentiment of the people in both nations."
The newspaper also published an editorial today mentioning that India has been building extensive infrastructure facilities along the border, and forcibly built part of the facilities on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control regardless of bilateral divergences over the border disputes.
"The arrogance and recklessness of the Indian side is the main reason for the consistent tensions along China-India borders," it added.

That the Chinese diplomats, military and media have a delusional disorder of thinking themselves as the biggest superpower in the world is no secret. The fascination with America and the obsessiveness to counter Donald Trump's every move also gives Xi Jinping and his team an unimaginable high. Relationship with India matters more on the trade front for the Chinese than on the strategic side.
"Misleading spin, obfuscation, concealment, and hyperbole have been hallmarks of the Chinese Communist Party’s propaganda campaign, before and during the coronavirus era. But the pandemic appears to have given rise to more forceful attacks on foreign governments, as well as a new level of flirtation with outright disinformation," Kathy Gilsinan wrote in American magazine The Atlantic last month.
But, will China, which has curbed public opinion and democracy for decades, listen? Not many think so..
