A team of vigilance officers in Faridabad, adjoining Delhi, caught a Haryana police sub-inspector red-handed while accepting a bribe, but just as they were about to arrest him he tried to swallow the money to destroy evidence.
A video of the incident shows the vigilance officials grappling with the cop to get the money out of his mouth.
The bribe was taken from a local farmer who was seeking action as his buffalo had been stolen. Sub-Inspector Mahendra Pal demanded Rs 10,000 of which he had received Rs 6,000. Before giving the rest of the money, the farmer informed the vigilance squad who laid a trap to nab the errant sub-inspector.
