In a shocking incident in Bengaluru, a 30-year-old woman jumped off a moving Rapido bike taxi after the rider allegedly tried to grope her and take her to a different destination.
The woman told the police that she finally had to jump from the moving motorcycle to save herself. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras along the road.
Police said the incident took place on April 21 when the woman booked a ride on the Rapido app at around 11 pm for Indiranagar in the city.
The bike rider took the woman’s phone on the pretext of checking the OTP and then refused to return it. He then started speeding in the opposite direction and did not return the phone.
When the culprit tried to grope her on the moving vehicle., she jumped off the speeding bike near the Abrar BMS college in Bengaluru’s Yelahanka area. When the guard at the college gate rushed to help the woman, the rider fled the scene.
The accused has been identified as Deepak Rao, 27, from Andhra Pradesh. He has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
