Bike thieves crash into gate as alert guard shuts it at last moment

Two thieves posing as municipal officials tried to speed away with a delivery agent’s motorcycle but ended up ramming into the gate of a colony in Delhi’s Kalkaji Extension today as an alert guard closed it in the nick of time.

CCTV footage shows the thief on the speeding bike crashing into the gate and falling off and getting hurt after which he was caught by the residents. The local police arrived immediately after being informed about the incident.

His accomplice, who had managed to run away, was later caught from a park in a neighbouring colony where he was trying to appear as one of the joggers of a group.

The thieves told residents of Everest Apartments in the South Delhi colony that they had come for an inspection of the building and kept hanging around. They got an opportunity when a courier delivery agent left the ignition key in his bike as he hurriedly got off to ring a doorbell.

As the thieves revved up the engine and were speeding away, the delivery agent shouted to the guard who immediately shut the gate
