Video: Man rescued from debris of collapsed building in Thane after 20 hrs

A 30-year-old man was rescued on Sunday after 20 hours from under the debris of the three-storey building that collapsed in the Bhiwandi area of Thane on the outskirts of Mumbai even as the death toll in the tragedy has risen to four.

Efforts are still on to rescue another seven people who are still likely to be trapped. As many as 12 people have been rescued, of which, seven people who sustained injuries are undergoing treatment at Bhiwandi’s Indira Gandhi Hospital.

Teams of the Fire Brigade, Police, TDRF (Thane Disaster Response Force) and NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) are carrying out the rescue operation.

The building collapsed at Vardhaman Compound in Kailasnagar Walpada during afternoon on Saturday and rescue teams had swung into action.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the accident site in Bhiwandi late at night and reviewed the rescue work. He also went to the hospital and inquired about the injured.
