A man from Maharashtra and his six-year-old son drowned at a beach in Oman yesterday as the sea suddenly turned rough and swept them away. His 9-year-old daughter is missing and rescuers are searching for her, the local police said.

Shashikant Mhamane, 42, was working in Dubai with a private company and gone to neighbouring Oman for a holiday with his wife and children Shruti and Shreyas.
A video of the incident taken by another tourist shows Shruti and Shreyas being swept away by a strong wave while playing in the water. Their father rushed to save them but drowned in the rough sea.
