<strong>With rains continuing to lash Uttarakhand for the second day, the State Government has reportedly put in place several measures to counter its effect on people and property. Meanwhile, the video clip showing flooding of Nainital&rsquo;s iconic and popular Mall Road has taken the social media by storm.</strong></p>

With the Naini Lake overflowing due to the continuous rain, the Mall Road running parallel to the lake, was flooded.</p>

According to the predictions by the meteorological department, the State was to receive heavy rainfall from October 17 to 19. The met department had also said that at least 123 districts of Uttarakhand were expected to have hail storms and face strong winds up to 70 kilometre per hour.</p>

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 10 teams across seven districts of the State. These include one each in Dehradun, Almora, Pithoragarh, and Haridwar, and two each in Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Gadapur.</p>

Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday spoke to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Besides taking stock of the flood situation, the CM was assured all possible help from the Centre by the Home Minister.</p>

Taking precautionary steps, the Chardham Devasthanam Board has been asked by the authorities to temporarily suspend the Char Dham Yatra. Also pilgrims &ndash; in thousands &ndash; who are headed to Kedarnath have been told to take refuge in safe places till such time the weather improves.</p>

The schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the State remained shut on Monday. Also, a ban has been imposed on trekking, mountaineering and camping activities in the high-altitude areas of the State.</p>
