Following Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman’s Press conference on Wednesday after presentation of the Budget, her colleague and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw addressing the media laid the roadmap for the Indian Railways
He announced that keeping with India’s commitment for adopting green fuel, the country’s first hydrogen train will be rolled out by December 2023. It will be completely indigenously manufactured and will initially be run on heritage circuits like Kalka-Shimla. Later, they will be deployed at other places.

The Minister also gave hope to people who commute from large habitations around big metros for work as the Railways is all set to roll out Vande Metro.
Describing it as a mini-version of Vande Bharat, the Minister said it will enable people living around the cities to travel back and forth in comfort between their place of work and residence. The design and production of Vande Metro will be completed this year and it will provide passengers rapid shuttle-like experience.
