Video: $90,000 hidden by passenger in thick book seized at Mumbai airport

Customs officials at the Mumbai airport have seized $90,000 hidden in the pages of a thick book from a passenger who was carrying the currency illegally, officials said on Tuesday.

The dollar bills were carefully placed between the pages of the book to avoid detection, a video of the seizure shows.

Customs officials intercepted the passenger based on intelligence inputs and searched his luggage. He could not produce any valid documents to explain how he was carrying so much foreign currency.

The passenger was arrested and investigation is underway to unravel the wider currency smuggling network.
