Tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and adjoining cities this morning due to an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 with its epicentre in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region.</p>

Some residents in Noida on the outskirts of Delhi tweeted that the ground shook for at least 20 seconds. People in Delhi also tweeted that they felt the tremor.</p>

The quake was reported 259 km northeast of Kabul in Afghanistan, 317 km southeast of Dushanbe in Tajikistan, 346 km north-northwest of Islamabad in Pakistan, and 395 km northwest of Gulmarg and 422 km northwest of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, according to the National Centre for Seismology.</p>
