Tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and adjoining cities this morning due to an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 with its epicentre in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region.
Some residents in Noida on the outskirts of Delhi tweeted that the ground shook for at least 20 seconds. People in Delhi also tweeted that they felt the tremor.
The quake was reported 259 km northeast of Kabul in Afghanistan, 317 km southeast of Dushanbe in Tajikistan, 346 km north-northwest of Islamabad in Pakistan, and 395 km northwest of Gulmarg and 422 km northwest of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, according to the National Centre for Seismology.
