Building collapses in Lucknow
Three people were killed after a residential building collapsed on Wazir Hasanganj Road in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow on Tuesday. Fourteen people were rescued while five are still buried under the debris.
Deputy General of Police DS Chauhan said, “Five people are still stuck under the debris and proper oxygen is being supplied to them. They are in the same room. We are in contact with two people. Nobody has been arrested yet, a proper investigation will be done.”
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said the “Building collapsed suddenly. Three dead bodies have been found and sent to the hospital. NDRF and fire brigade personnel are present at the spot, rescue operation is underway,”
According to an official statement, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to take the injured to the hospital immediately for treatment. Hospitals too were instructed to remain alert.
It was not immediately clear if the building collapsed due to the earthquake that had struck Nepal and India in the afternoon. A 5.9 magnitude earthquake had jolted Nepal’s far-western Bajura district leading to many collapsed houses and one death.
