Watch smart Jugaad: People commute on board a crane to beat the floods in Bengaluru

Industrialist Anand Mahindra, chairman of auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra,  today shared a video showing people using a crane to commute across a heavily flooded road in Bengaluru.

The video shows eight passengers on board the crane. While two of them are near the driver, the others stand on the excavator that is used to move earth and for digging as well.

“Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” Mahindra tweeted.

Incessant rain battered Bengaluru for the third consecutive day on Tuesday and  many IT professionals in the city went to their office on tractors as these were the only vehicles that could drive through the water.

Yemalur, a locality near the HAL Airport, was submerged and since cars and bikes could not move through the water, many employees of IT companies living nearby took tractor rides to their offices.

“We cannot take so many days off from our office, our work is getting affected. We are waiting for tractors to drop us for Rs 50,” a woman employee of an IT firm told news agency ANI.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured the IT companies of a discussion on the estimated loss of Rs 225 crore due to rain and waterlogging in Bengaluru.

His remark came after the IT companies asked the Chief Minister to solve the Outer Ring Road issue.
