Women in India continue to break the glass ceiling in diverse fields which so far have been dominated by men. Taking pride in another instance of this, the Ministry of Railway has praised the first woman ticket-checking staff in India for collecting more than Rs.1 crore as fines from erring passengers.
She is Rosaline Arokia Mary who at present is the Chief Ticket Inspector of Southern Railway. She collected a total of Rs.1.03 crore as fines from ticketless travellers.
The Ministry posted her pictures on Twitter showing her doing her work of checking tickets and fining ticketless passengers diligently.
This post went viral with users appreciating Mary’s efforts and hard work. One user wrote: “We need more such challenging and dedicated women to make our Bharath a superpower. Congratulations Rosaline . Keep the tempo rising.”
Another said: “Rosaline, I am proud to be your friend. Knowing you I am not surprised with your achievement. Shows your dedication, commitment and sincerity to your duties”, while one congratulated her and wrote: “Ma’am! A job well done!”
