South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris smashed the auction record for the Indian Premier League as he was sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 16.25 crore. Before Morris, Yuvraj Singh, had fetched a price of Rs 16 crore in the IPL which was the highest till now. Morris came in at a base price of Rs. 75 lakh.</p>

Morris is a right-arm fast bowler and a pinch hitter. He has played 70 IPL games so far and has scored 551 runs at 23.95 and a strike rate of 157.87. As a bowler he has 80 wickets to his credit at 23.98 and an economy rate of 7.81 runs per over.</p>

<strong>Maxwell goes for Rs 14.25 crore</strong></p>

Australia&#39;s big-hitting Glenn Maxwell was picked up for a whopping Rs 14.25 crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the IPL auction after fierce bidding with Chennai Super Kings. Maxwell, who had a bad season in IPL 2020 where he managed just 108 runs from 13 matches for Punjab Kings who released him this year.</p>

He has done well in the Australian limited-overs matches and has 1687 runs from 67 T20Is in addition to 6581 runs overall from 301 T20s at 27.19 and a strike rate of 152.05.</p>
