Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid and Fathehpuri Mosque appeal to Muslims to offer Eid prayers at home

The Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama  Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari has made a fervent appeal to the people to offer Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at their homes in view of the surging Coronavirus pandemic.</p>

Echoing similar views, the Shahi Imam of  Fatehpuri Mosque, Mufti Mukarram Ahmed also made a similar appeal and both have urged the people to follow utmost precaution to protect themselves as well as others in this prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation.</p>

He said with medical experts and doctors expecting further rise in the Covid-19 cases, everyone should avoid going out without a valid reason, and all people should take the prescribed precautions.</p>

In his video message, Mufti Mukarram stated that Sharia allowed praying at home in such unusual situations. He added that people should follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and avoid going to the markets and crowding. He also elaborated the procedure to offer Eid namaz at home.</p>

Besides, praying for the Covid-19 pandemic to subside, Mufti Mukarram also urged people to offer sadqa fitr (charity for poor) to those suffering due to Coronavirus and those who have lost their near and dear ones because of Covid-19.</p>

Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be celebrated on 14 May, depending on the sighting of the Moon.</p>
<p>
The holy month of Ramzan began on April 14. It is the ninth month of Islamic calendar and Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated at the culmination of the fasting month.</p>
