Schools have been ordered shut for today in Noida and other parts of Uttar Pradesh due to heavy rainfall last night and the IMD prediction that the wet spell will continue.
A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, eastern Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Heavy rainfall has also been forecast over next five days for Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The order to shut the schools in Noida, Ghaziabad and other parts of Uttar Pradesh were issued last night after incessant rainfall.
The weather alert issued by IMD predicts fresh rainfall in the region.
As a precaution, October 10 has been declared a holiday in all schools in Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Aligarh, Agra, Lucknow, and Meerut. The order includes all schools – private as well as government. Also, schools for all classes till 12th would be shut.
In Aligarh, the orders have been issued for three days. Schools of Classes 1 to 12 would remain closed till October 12, 2022.
