Russian tourists to return to Goan beaches this winter as Aeroflot announces resumption of flights

Goa is expected to witness a rush of tourists from Moscow this winter as Russia’s largest airline Aeroflot has announced the resumption of regular flights to the state from November 2.

The airline said that there will be up to three flights per week operated on Airbus A330 aircraft and the ticket sales will open soon.

Aeroflot is also resuming flights to Colombo from October 9, initially operating twice a week to the capital of Sri Lanka.

Starting October 30, Aeroflot will also resume flights to Bangkok with a frequency of seven flights a week.

Ticket sales for Colombo and Bangkok are already open while Goa is expected be begin soon.

Aeroflot is the largest Russian airline and one of the country’s most recognizable brands. It carried 21.4 million people in 2021.

For decades, Goa has been one of the favourite destinations for Russian tourists in the winter season. However, first Covid-19 and then the ongoing conflict in Ukraine took a heavy toll on the arrival of tourists from Moscow.
