Customs department officials at Mumbai airport arrested a passenger with 2.81 kg of cocaine worth over Rs 28 crore on Monday. The drugs were hidden inside a duffle bag of the traveller.
In a video shared by news agency ANI, Customs officials can be seen tearing the bag to recover the drugs which were hidden under a layer of the bag.
The traveller claimed that he was lured into carrying the contraband by a person he met on social media. The passenger was “honey trapped” to smuggle the cocaine, cited a Customs official as saying.
The incident comes close on the heels of Customs officials seizing heroin and cocaine worth Rs 47 crore at Mumbai international airport and arresting two persons who were trying to smuggle in the drugs on Friday.
The seizure was carried out in two separate cases. In one case a man arrived on a Kenya Airways flight from Johannesburg in South Africa via Nairobi in Kenya. In the second case the drug smuggler arrived on an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
