Jaipur:  Over Rs 2.31 crore in hard cash and gold bars weighing 1 kg have been seized in Jaipur from the basement of Yojana Bhavan where the office of the Department of Information Technology is located, a senior police official said.

Addressing a late night press conference, Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava said the Additional Director of the IT Department informed the police that they had found cash and gold bars in their basement.  No one has claimed the money or gold, according to an ANI report.

“We have detained 7 to 8 persons who had access to the basement, these are from the department, or have to do with the maintenance,”  he added.

The cash and currency notes have been seized and a team has been formed to investigate the case. CCTV footage will be analysed to track down the culprits.
