A reckless couple touring Ladakh was slapped a fine for driving their SUV&nbsp; over sand dunes in Nubra Valley which is prohibited as it damages the natural landscape of the area.</p>

The Leh Police posted two photos on Facebook showing a Toyota Fortuner SUV being driven on the sand dunes at Hunder in Nubra Valley, a place that is a major attraction for adventure tourism.</p>

&quot;One tourist vehicle was found violating the SDM (sub-divisional magistrate) Nubra&#39;s direction not to drive cars over sand dunes in Hunder. The couple from Jaipur were booked as per law and a bond of Rs 50,000 was taken by them,&quot; Leh Police said in the Facebook post.</p>

&quot;District police Leh requests tourists not to drive on sand dunes as you damage the natural landscape and violate the prohibitory orders,&quot; the police said.</p>

Nubra Valley is known for its natural beauty with the Shyok and Siachan rivers meeting in this high altitude area. The valley separates Ladakh from the Karakoram ranges and the Siachen glacier.</p>

Earlier, in April this year some tourists had misbehaved by driving their Audi in the picturesque Pangong Lake in Ladakh which had triggered a storm on social media.</p>
