Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sandhwan’s meeting with Khalistani leader in Toronto puts AAP Govt in a tight spot

Chandigarh: What could turn out to be a major embarrassment for the Aam Aadmi Party, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan during his recent visit to Canada met with some active Khalistani elements in Toronto.

Sandhwan had breakfast with a well-known Khalistani Harjeet Singh Bajwa. During a protest by Khalistanis in front of the Indian consulate, Bajwa is seen with a Khalistan banner in his hands.

Pictures of Sandhwan and Bajwa sharing a dining table have gone viral. Bajwa is also seen holding the Khalistan banner in a separate picture.

In a video message uploaded on Twitter, Harjeet Singh Bajwa openly declares support for the referendum-2020 taking place in Brampton on September 18 being organised by the Sikhs For Justice. The SFJ is banned in India as a terrorist organisation.

Bajwa also extends support to the Vancouver-based Hardeep Nijjer who is wanted by the police in India for various terrorist activities. The government of India has announced an award of Rs 10 lakh on his head.

According to sources in Punjabi media in Toronto, Sandhwan accompanied by local office bearers of AAP went on a meetings spree during his 7-day stay in Toronto. Controversial journalist Baltej Pannu, who was recently appointed director of media relations by the Punjab government, also accompanied the speaker.

Sandhwan did not respond to repeated WhatsApp messages and calls by this reporter. Malwinder Singh Kang, AAP spokesman when contacted, warded off a reply saying that he is busy in the hospital.
