An IT software engineer killed his wife and 8-year-old son after which he committed suicide in his flat in Pune, according to local police.
The man has been identified as Sudipto Ganguly (44) who worked at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) earlier and had started his own business a few months ago.
Sudipto’s brother who lives in Bengaluru had asked a friend to visit the flat as the couple was not responding to his phone calls. After finding the flat locked, he filed a missing persons complaint.
However, on the basis of the location data, police concluded that the mobile phones were inside the flat.
After gaining entry into the flat, police found Sudipto hanging from the ceiling fan while his wife and the child were found dead with polythene bags wrapped around their faces. However, no suicide note was found from the spot.
Police have learned from Sudipto’s brother that he was depressed as he was facing financial problems which is being seen as the probable reason for taking the extreme step.
