Police beefs up safety cover around Mukesh Ambani’s house amid fresh security scare

Security heightened outside Mukesh Ambani's residence 'Antilia' after Mumbai Police received a call from a taxi driver that two people carrying a bag asked for Ambani's residence.

Security has been strengthened around richest Indian Mukesh Ambani's 27-storey residence ‘Antilia’ in south Mumbai after the local police received information from a taxi driver that two suspicious people carrying bags were enquiring about the location of the house.

Barricades have been put by the police outside Antilia located on Altamount Road, known as billionaire’s row.  The CCTV footage around the building is also being checked, the city police said on Monday.

"We received a call from a taxi driver that two people had approached him, asking for the location of Mukesh Ambani's residence Antilia," the police told journalists.

The taxi driver's statement is being recorded and a senior officer is monitoring the situation, the police said.

The increased security for the leading industrialist comes after a major security scare in February this year, when a Scorpio SUV laden with explosives was found parked a few metres away from his house.

Subsequently it was found that the now dismissed assistant police inspector Sachin Waze had a hand in the incident.
