PM unveils 6.5 metre National Emblem cast in new Parliament building

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today unveiled the national emblem cast on the central foyer of the new Parliament building.</p>

The national emblem is made of bronze, weighs 9,500 kg and is 6.5 metre high. It has been cast at the top of the central foyer of the new parliament building. A supporting steel structure weighing around 6,500 Kg has been constructed to support the emblem, according to an official press note.</p>

The concept sketch and process of casting the national emblem on the roof of the new parliament building has gone through eight stages of preparation, starting from clay modelling, computer graphics to bronze casting and polishing, the official note explained.</p>

During the event, the Prime Minister also interacted with the workers involved in the construction of the grand new Parliament building.</p>

<p>
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri were present on the occasion.</p>
<p>
The building, which is the highlight of the government's ambitious Central Vista project, is being built by Tata Projects.</p>
