Prime Minister Narendra Modi&#39;s personal Twitter account was &quot;briefly compromised,&quot; but has now been secured, according to information posted by PMO on the micro blogging site on Sunday morning.</p>

The Twitter handle of PM <a href="https://twitter.com/narendramodi?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@narendramodi</a> was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured.<br />

According to screenshots shared by some Twitter users, the malicious tweets put out from PM Modi&#39;s @narendramodi account stated: &quot;India has officially accepted bitcoin as legal tender. The government has officially bought 500 BTC and distributing them to all residents of the country.&quot;</p>

The tweet was soon deleted but meanwhile #Hacked began trending in India.</p>

Twitter said it had investigated the matter and that it appeared that the account &ldquo;was not compromised due to any breach of Twitter&rsquo;s systems&rdquo;.</p>

A company spokesperson said that Twitter has &ldquo;24X7 open lines of communication with the PM&rsquo;s Office&rdquo;, and &ldquo;necessary steps to secure the compromised account&rdquo; were taken as soon as the social media giant was informed about the hacking.</p>
