‘PM Modi’s move of repealing farm laws in larger national interest’

Several top leaders of the country have welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of repealing the three farm laws on the occasion of Gurupurab, emphasising that the government's decision today shows that it does not want any kind of unrest in the region.

While Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik labeled the move as "in the best interests of the country", Home Minister Amit Shah called it "statesmanlike".

Patnaik urged the protesting farmers to return home, saying "your farms and families have been waiting for long and they will be happy to welcome you back".

Shah, meanwhile, assured that the Indian government will keep serving the farmers of the country and always support them in their endeavours.

"What is unique about PM @narendramodi Ji's announcement is that he picked the special day of 'Guru Purab' to make this announcement. It also shows there is no other thought except the welfare of each and every Indian for him. He has shown remarkable statesmanship," tweeted the Union Home Minister.

Former minister Prakash Javadekar saw today's development "in the larger national interest", saying that the Modi government continues to work for the welfare of farmers.
"On the day of Prakash Parv, Prime Minister @narendramodi declared withdrawal of three farm laws. This is responsive government. lt will work continuously for the welfare of farmers and in the larger national interest. @PMOIndia @BJP4India #FarmersProtest #Farmers #farmerlaws," tweeted Javadekar.
Jagat Prakash Nadda, the National President of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, said that PM Modi's announcement shows he has "immense care for our farmers" and the decision will further the atmosphere of brotherhood across the nation.
Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh also welcomed the Modi government's decision.

"Great news! Thankful to PM @narendramodi ji for acceding to the demands of every punjabi & repealing the 3 black laws on the pious occasion of #GuruNanakJayanti. I am sure the central govt will continue to work in tandem for the development of Kisani! #NoFarmers_NoFood @AmitShah," he tweeted.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while welcoming the announcement, asserted that the farm laws had increased income of the farmers.

"I thank PM Modi and welcome this step. Though a large section of people believed that such laws can play an essential role to increase the income of farmers, some farmer organisations opposed it. Government attempted to establish a dialogue on all levels, but we could not convince them. We respect democracy," said Adityanath.
