PM Modi trashes authoritarian charge, says democracy and constitutionalism is embedded in ruling party’s DNA

Faced with an international onslaught amplified by the opposition Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that democracy is embedded in the BJP’s DNA, and the party is wedded to the constitution of India.

“BJP has taken birth from the womb of Democracy, has been nourished and nurtured with the ‘Amrit’ of Democracy, and has been deeply consecrated to strengthen the Constitution and Democracy,” PM Modi told party workers on the 44th anniversary of the formation of the party.

Highlighting the BJP’s deep commitment to inclusivity, the Prime Minister stressed that the party must resolve to take “our nation to newer heights, of winning the hearts of anyone & everyone, of realising the dreams of Maa Bharti, on this propitious occasion when the BJP is completing 50 years of its formation & nation, 100 years of her independence.”

He added that the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” was not a mere slogan.

With the 2024 elections on the horizon, PM Modi exhorted party workers to achieve bigger goals for the country by selflessly pursuing the idea of “nation first” in their endeavours.

“I have firm belief that the devotion, dedication and power of our Karyakartas, and our Mantra of ‘Nation First’ will keep on inspiring us!” he observed.

But keeping in view the vision of a New India, the Prime Minister stressed that the endeavours of the workers must not be just confined to winning elections.

“As Karyakartas of the Bharatiya Janata Party, we must not limit ourselves to winning the elections. We must ensure winning the hearts of the people! We have to fight each and every election with the same levels of energy and hard work as we have been having since the 1980s,” he observed.
