PM Modi to kick off Centre-State Conclave on Sept 10 in big push to Anusandhan drive

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Centre-State Science Conclave on  September 10 via video conferencing as part of his big push to innovation and entrepreneurship in the country.

The first of its kind Conclave will strengthen Centre-State coordination and collaboration mechanisms  – in the spirit of cooperative federalism – to build a robust science, technology & innovation (STI) ecosystem across the country.

The conclave comes in the backdrop of PM Modi’s addressing the nation on the 76th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had added Jai Anusandhan (research, innovation) to the Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, and Jai Vigyan slogans used by leaders in the past.

The two-day Conclave is being organised at Science City, Ahmedabad on 10-11 September 2022. It will include sessions on different thematic areas including  STI Vision 2047, Future Growth Pathways and Vision for STI in States. Health –  Digital Health Care for All, Doubling Private Sector investment in R&D by 2030, Agriculture – Technological interventions for improving farmers’ income, Water –  Innovation for producing potable drinking water.  Other themes that will be taken up include Energy- Clean Energy for All including S&T role in Hydrogen mission, Deep Ocean Mission and its relevance for Coastal States/UTs as well as the country’s future economy.

The Conclave will witness the participation of Gujarat CM, Union MoS Science & Technology (S&T), S&T Ministers and Secretaries of States & Union Territories, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, NGOs, young scientists and students.

Speaking from the ramparts of Red Fort on Independence Day, the Prime Minister called for a fresh push into research and innovation in the country in the decade that follows.

PM Modi said that to the slogan of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had added Jai Vigyan and now, India will append Jai Anusandhan to it as we celebrate 75 years of Independence.

The newest addition is being hailed as a welcoming change by academics who have for long complained about the poor investment in the field of research and development by both the public and private sectors.
