PM Modi to hold meeting with vaccine manufacturers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with the vaccine manufacturers on Tuesday to discuss issues related to production. A source said that as India fights Covid 19 resurgence, a concrete plan needs to be put in place to ensure availability especially now as the Centre announced opening up of vaccination drive for all citizens above the age of 18.</p>
<p>
“This will lead to a huge increase in demand for vaccines and there needs to be a proper plan in place,” the source said.</p>
<p>
According to IANS, representatives of top drug makers from India and abroad, including companies whose vaccines have been approved by the government will also attend the meeting.</p>
<p>
From May 1, all adult Indians will be eligible to take the Covid 19 vaccine.</p>
<p>
Until now India has managed to vaccinate over 120 million people.</p>
<p>
While India has already approved administration of Russia developed Sputnik V, it is also looking at fast-tracking imports of other vaccines into the country.</p>
