PM Modi to hold 4 back-to-back rallies in Gujarat today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will rev up the BJP’s election campaign in Gujarat today with four back-to-back rallies in Palanpur, Modasa, Dahegam, and Bavla (Ahmedabad).

As electioneering enters the last week before voting day on December 1 and December 5, the Prime Minister said he hoped that Gujarat will witness a record voter turnout in the upcoming state polls, particularly among the youth and first-time voters.

The Prime Minister has been launching a frontal attack on the rival Congress in his election speeches. Speaking at an election rally in the tribal-dominated Dahod town of central Gujarat, Modi asked why the Congress did not support Murmu in the presidential election if the opposition party was so concerned about adivasis.

He hit out at the party, stating that the “Congress model” meant nepotism, casteism, sectarianism and vote bank politics at a rally in Mehsana.

Home Minister Amit Shah, , attacked the Congress, saying Rahul Gandhi’s gesture of taking along activist Medha Patkar during his Bharat Jodo Yatra is the “biggest insult” meted out to Gujarat’s people by the Opposition party.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah, who is also campaigning in Gujarat, on Wednesday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s gesture of taking along anti-Narmada activist Medha Patkar during his Bharat Jodo Yatra is the “biggest insult” meted out to the people of Gujarat.

The Gandhinagar MP was addressing a poll rally at Jasdan in Rajkot district. Voting on Jasdan and 88 other seats will be held on December 1 in the first phase of the two-phase polls.

“Medha Patkar, who had stalled the Narmada dam project through litigation, is now walking with Congress’ prince Rahul Gandhi. The party owes an answer to the people. This is akin to sprinkling salt on the wounds of the people of Gujarat,” Shah said.
