Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday rolled out the Jan Samarth Portal, the national portal for credit-linked government schemes while flagging off the Iconic Week Celebrations of the Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

The national digital platform has four loan categories covering education, agriculture, business and livelihood and over 125 lenders on the platform.

Not only will this portal make the lives of students, entrepreneurs, businessmen and farmers easier, but also help them in fulfilling their dreams. Students will get to know which government scheme will benefit them the most and how they can avail it, the Prime Minister explained.

This portal will act as an end-to-end delivery platform to the youth and the middle class. It will play a pivotal role in self-employment.

"By reducing compliances by more than 30,000, by abolishing more than one and a half thousand laws, by decriminalising several provisions of the Companies Act, we have ensured that Indian companies not only grow but also achieve new heights," PM Modi said at the event.

"India has also worked on different dimensions in the last eight years. Public participation in all activities increased during this period and this gave impetus to the development of the country," he added.

What is Jan Samarth Portal?

It is a digital portal linking 13 credit-linked government schemes on a single platform. Beneficiaries can apply online under the scheme they are eligible for and receive digital approval.

How to apply for the scheme?

Currently, there are four loan categories – Education loan, Agri infrastructure loan, livelihood loan, business activity loan – and under each loan category, various schemes have been listed on the portal.

Anyone can apply for the loan after checking their eligibility for the preferred loan.

“Jan Samarth Portal is a one-stop digital portal linking Government credit schemes. It’s a first of its kind platform which directly connects beneficiaries to lenders.
