Speaking from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort, PM Modi said, India must become a developed nation in 25 years. "I urge the country’s youth to dedicate the next 25 years of their lives for the nation's development. We will work towards development of entire humanity," the Prime Minister said.

Secondly, “We should not try to become like others, there should be no trace of slavery in our mindset. "Sometimes our talent is restricted by language barriers, we need to be proud of every language in our country," he said. "We must not seek validation from the world. We must maintain our identity as a proud nation,” PM Modi explained.

Thirdly, “We should be proud of roots and heritage. "When we are connected to our roots, only then can we fly high. When we fly high, we will provide solutions to the entire world," the Prime Minister said.“We should also be united as a people to work towards the uplift of the nation. Equality is the cornerstone of India's progress. We need to make sure we are united through the mantra of "India first” PM Modi said explaining the fourth pledge. He also mentioned the need for equality between people, and emphasised the importance of equality for women. "Respect for women is an important pillar for India's growth, we need to support our 'Nari Shakti'," he pointed out.

"The fifth pledge is a sense of duty among citizens. It is the duty of people to save electricity, water. If we follow this, we can reach the desired results ahead of time. These duties apply to all citizens of India including even the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers. Any nation that has progressed, has discipline ingrained in its citizens, If all follow their responsibilities, India will grow fast," PM Modi added.
