Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited the Theppakkadu elephant camp at Mudumalai in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris hills district and interacted with Bellie and Bomman, the elephant caretakers who featured in an Oscar-winning documentary.

The Prime Minister visited the tiger sanctuary in Mudumalai briefly today.

Upon his arrival, the PM was accorded a welcome and he fed sugarcane to some of the elephants in the Theppakkadu camp at the tiger reserve.

He also interacted with field directors of tiger reserves that have scored highest in the recently concluded 5th cycle of the Management Effectiveness Evaluation exercise.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi visited Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka where he interacted with frontline field staff and Self Help Groups involved in conservation efforts.

Prime Minister Modi launched the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA) on Sunday.
