PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated India’s athletes for their superb performance in winning 202 medals including 76 gold medals at the Special Olympics Summer Games in Berlin.
Apart from the gold haul, the athletes also won 75 silver and 51 bronze medals to take their tally past the 200 mark with six medals coming from track events.
“Congratulations to our incredible athletes who represented India at the Special Olympics Summer Games in Berlin and won 202 medals including 76 Gold Medals. In their success, we celebrate the spirit of inclusivity and applaud the perseverance of these remarkable athletes,” PM Modi tweeted.
As many as 7,000 athletes representing 190 countries participated in the Berlin Special Olympics held from 17 – 25 June. The athletes competed in 26 sports and were supported by more than 3,000 coaches and 20,000 volunteers at the global event.
