Neeraj Chopra has scripted history in Tokyo, says elated PM Modi

<p>
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Neeraj Chopra on Saturday for winning the gold medal in the javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, saying what “young Neeraj has achieved today will be remembered forever.”</p>
<p>
The Prime Minister also said that Neeraj displayed remarkable passion and unparalleled grit in achieving the extraordinary feat.</p>
<p>
The Prime Minister who has been very keenly following the performance of the Indian athletes also congratulated wrestler Bajrang Punia for winning a bronze medal and was all praise for the spectacular performance of young golfer Aditi Ashok who missed a medal by a whisker.  </p>

After Chopra won the javelin gold, the Prime Minister tweeted:</p>

Earlier in the day the Prime Minister congratulated wrestler Bajrang Punia for winning the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.</p>

The Prime Minister also appreciated golfer Aditi Ashok’s accomplishment, the best by an Indian in the sport so far. </p>

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said:  "Well played @aditigolf! You have shown tremendous skill and resolve during #Tokyo2020. A medal was narrowly missed but you’ve gone farther than any Indian and blazed a trail. Best wishes for your future endeavours."</p>

The Prime Minister has in fact broken new ground in his rapport with Indian athletes by offering to have ice cream with badminton double Olympic medal winner when she returns from the Tokyo Games. The young athlete is quite elated and looking forward to the opportunity.</p>
<p>
Earlier the PM had also led from the front to rev up the Cheer4India campaign to boost the morale of Indian athletes at the Tokyo Games.</p>
