Nadda to announce his team soon; many leaders to be promoted

Bharatiya Janata Party chief J.P. Nadda is soon likely to announce his new organizational team. The announcement of the new team has been much anticipated ever since the senior leader took charge in the saffron party in January this year.

It is understood that with the changes to the organization, Nadda is expected to leave his mark on the BJP.

Major changes are expected to be made at the national joint secretary and secretary levels, as leaders from states where party is struggling to strengthen its base are likely to find space in the new team. The objective is to build the BJP as a formidable alternative in those states.

Sources stated that several leaders who have toiled hard for the party are expected to be accommodated in the new setup too. Several leaders, who already hold posts in the organization and have performed well in various states, are also expected to be promoted in the organizational restructuring, sources stated.

It is learnt that Nadda has also sought suggestions from various state units regarding the organizational changes that they would like to see.

"What we are learning is that the team is almost finalized and can be announced at senior leaders’ time of convenience. It was supposed to be announced in March but got delayed due to challenge posed by Covid-19," said a senior party functionary.

Another senior leader stated that in an effort to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former party chief Amit Shah's target of making the party strong in eastern India, the new setup is expected to see new faces form Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and the North East apart from southern states.

Interestingly, while Bihar is scheduled to go for Assembly polls later this year, West Bengal is one of the target areas where the party wants to wrest control from the ruling party..
