Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that India has given a befitting reply to the Chinese transgression in Ladakh and the world has seen India's commitment in safeguarding it's borders.
Addressing the nation in his monthly radio programme, Mann ki Baat, Modi said that India has given a befitting reply to those who eyed Indian territory in Ladakh. This was his 66th episode of Mann Ki Baat.
Modi was referring to the aggression and unprovoked attack by the Chinese military on Indian soldiers in Galwan Valley on June 15-16. Chinese soldiers had attacked Indian soldiers when they had asked the Chinese to remove a camp which they had pitched on Indian territory. The Chinese had come prepared for the attack as they had brought sticks and clubs with nails and barbed wires to assault Indians.
India lost 20 soldiers in that savage medieval-style attack but the Indians rallied and using the Chinese sticks and clubs killed almost double the number of Chinese soldiers. The Indian Army released figures of the numbers of its men killed and injured, China is still to acknowledge the number of its troops who died and sustained injuries in the incident.
This was his first statement on the Chinese aggression in Ladakh after the all party meeting. The Prime Minister today said that India has gave a befitting reply to China's People's Liberation Army. “India knows how to maintain friendships but it can also look someone in the eye and retaliate and give an apt reply,” Modi said.
"The world has seen India's strength and commitment to peace. We bow to our brave martyrs," the Prime Minister said, adding that their valour will always be remembered. "There could be any number of challenges, but our history shows that we have always overcome from them. We have emerged as more stronger after facing challenges," he added..
