A man in Karnataka who found a missing pet parrot, has been given a reward of Rs 85,000 by the grateful owners.

The owners, Arjun and his wife Ranjana, had announced a Rs 50,000 reward for whoever found their African parrot named Rustam which went missing on July 16.

However, they were so overjoyed on getting their pet back that they increased the reward money by another Rs 35,000 and also distributed sweets in the locality.

The parrot flew away from its house in Karnataka's Tumakuru and eventually landed on the terrace of a house 3 km away.

Since the owners had launched a poster campaign in the city about the missing pet, Srinivas, the man who found the parrot came to know about them and returned the pet the next day.

Srinivas said the parrot was very weak when he found it and he had nursed it back to good health.
