A 40-year-old man from Gujarat has been taken into custody by Mumbai Police after the security scare around billionaire Mukesh Ambani's residence on Monday night.

The man, identified as Suresh Visanji Patel, was picked up from Navi Mumbai.

Initial inquiries have not turned up anything suspicious as Patel appears to be a tourist who was curious to know about Ambani's 27-storey home, which is one of the most talked about landmarks in the metropolis.

Police have, however, said they will question Patel further to rule out any possible threat.

Security has been strengthened around richest Indian Mukesh Ambani's residence ‘Antilia’ in south Mumbai after the local police received information from a taxi driver that two suspicious people carrying bags were enquiring about the location of the house.

Police had received a call from a taxi driver that two people had approached him, asking for the location of Mukesh Ambani's residence Antilia.

The taxi driver's statement was recorded and the police had launched a manhunt after a detailed study of the CCTV footage of the area where the incident had occurred.

The increased security for the leading industrialist comes after a major security scare in February this year, when a Scorpio SUV laden with explosives was found parked a few metres away from his house.

Subsequently it was found that the now dismissed assistant police inspector Sachin Waze had a hand in the incident.
