Lightning kills 5 people in Maharashtra

Five people were killed and 8 injured due to lightning in Maharashtra amid heavy rain and thunderstorms in the state.

The incidents have been reported over the week-end from Marathwada and northern Maharashtra.

According to revenue officials the family members of the deceased will get compensation from the government after the official formalities are completed.

Crops have also been damaged due to the unseasonal rain in the state. An official assessment of the extent of the damage to the standing crops will also be undertaken.
