Khalistani terrorists fire rocket propelled grenade at Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters

A rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the building of the Punjab Police's Intelligence headquarters in Mohali on the outskirts of Chandigarh by suspected Khalistani terrorists on Monday evening.

The grenade hit the third floor of the building causing an explosion, that shattered the windows.

There are no reports of any casualties so far. Meanwhile, the police has cordoned off the area.

The development comes close on the heels of the state police having recovered an explosive device packed with around 1.5 kg of RDX and arrested two men on Sunday in a village in the state’s Tarn Taran district bordering Pakistan.

The attack also follows the planting of Khalistan flags on the main gate of neighbouring Himachal Pradesh’s Vidhan Sabha Complex in Dharamsala on Sunday morning. Besides the banners, Khalistan was written with green paint on the wall adjoining the main gate of the Vidhan Sabha.

Reacting to the incident, Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said a case has been registered and police authorities have been directed to nab the culprits as soon as possible. The Chief Minister said the miscreants would be exposed soon. “Himachal is a peaceful state and we want to maintain this peace,” he added.
