Congress MLA and former speaker in Karnataka assembly KR Ramesh Kumar, known for his loose remarks, has triggered another controversy, by saying Congress leaders have made "enough" money in the name of Nehru-Gandhis "to last us for the next three to four generations".

Speaking at the Congress party's protest in Bengaluru against party chief Sonia Gandhi being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate, Kumar said, "We have earned enough to last us for the next three to four generations in the name of Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi".

"Now, if we are not ready to repay those debts, I am afraid the food we eat will be infested with worms," he remarked.

The comment is expected to give more ammunition to the state's ruling BJP, which has been accusing the Congress of corruption. The remark also comes at a time when several Congress leaders are being investigated for corruption and money laundering by Central law enforcement agencies.
