Indian Coast Guard rescues 22 crew from foreign ship in distress off Gujarat coast

The Indian Coast Guard rescued all 22 crew members from the distressed merchant ship MT Global King on Wednesday.</p>

Coast Guard vessels and ALH Dhruv helicopters were launched from Porbandar to carry out the rescue operations 93 nautical miles into the sea, Coast Guard officials   said.</p>
<p>
A rescue operation was launched in the Arabian Sea near Porbandar coast in Gujarat after a distress alert was received from MT Global King due to uncontrolled flooding onboard.</p>
<p>
According to the initial information shared by the Indian Coast Guard, the troubled vessel was on the way from Khor Fakkan in UAE to Karwar in India.</p>
<p>
Coast Guard officials, cited by news agency ANI, said that the vessel is carrying 6000 tonnes of bitumen.</p>
<p>
A video of the site shared by the Coast Guard showed an aircraft carrying out a recce around the troubled vessel.</p>
