India stands firm even as world is divided into two rival factions, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asserted that India today stands firm in maintaining its interests without fear or pressure when the entire world is divided into two rival factions.</p>

"Today, India stands firm before the world with its interests without any fear or pressure. When the entire world is divided into two rival factions, India is being viewed as a nation that can firmly speak about humanity," PM Modi said in his address at the 42nd foundation day of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).</p>

Analysts say that PM Modi’s remarks have been carefully timed as rival foreign powers are nudging India to take a partisan position on the Ukraine crisis. His remarks come ahead of a 2+2 meeting later this month with the United States when the Defence and foreign ministers of the two countries will meet in New Delhi. The Japanese foreign and defence ministers will also dialogue with  their Indian counterparts this month. The situation in Ukraine is bound to be discussed in detail in these powerful conclaves, and it can be expected that the visitors would go full throttle in their anti-Russian pitch.</p>

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida, Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi, his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and the British Foreign Secretary have already visited New Delhi to assess India’s position on the Ukrainian crisis.</p>

Underlining the importance of the 42nd foundation day of the BJP, the Prime Minister said, "This is a big occasion for taking inspiration. Also, the world scenario is fast-changing with consequences for the global order. Owing to this, many new opportunities are coming up for India."</p>
<p>
Observers say that the Prime Minister’s tone and tenor show that far from being burdened by the global crises, India is looking at the fluid situation positively—in fact as an opportunity to raise the country’s stature in the international arena. </p>

In his address via video conference, the PM also pointed out that the occasion coincides with the celebrations of 75 years of Independence being observed as 'Azadi Ka Amarit Mohatsav'—an occasion which should motivate countrymen to accelerate India’s rise.</p>

He praised the BJP workers for their contribution in ensuring the party’s victories in the recently held state assembly elections.</p>

"The BJP has returned to power with a 'double-engine' government in four states a few weeks ago. It is after three decades that the numbers of any party in the Rajya Sabha have for the first time touched the 100 marks," PM Modi pointed out.</p>

The Prime Minister also stated that there was a time when people were in despair. "The people had accepted that be it the government of any party, nothing will be done for the country. But today, every citizen of the country is proudly saying that the nation is changing and going ahead swiftly," he remarked.</p>

He said that the responsibilities of each member of the BJP are constantly growing whether it be from the world perspective or from the national viewpoint. "Each and every worker of the BJP is a representative of the country's dreams," PM Modi added.</p>

The Prime Minister also drove home the message that from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and Kutch to Kohima, the BJP is strengthening the pledge of Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat."</p>
